I love to get out in the Spring and watch the flowers emerge from the snow covered or muddy soil. And I try to capture them, every year, in my yard, forest preserves and the Arboretum. But mostly in my backyard, where I have planted, relocated, encouraged and weeded to promote many Illinois native spring flowers. Some years, the weather does not cooperate, or the second winter freezes the blossoms. Sometimes I can get the right light and capture something distinctive, and other times, it looks like another pretty daffodil. This Red Trillium was in a local forest preserve, Lyman Woods. The wind was still, nothing came between the bloom and my lens, and I got a macro image of the red petal/leaves of the Red Trillium, which grows and is plentiful in Illinois woods.
