Rooted in Beauty

As an artist, I am captivated by the beauty of blossoms, their colors, shapes, structures and textures. My art is a meditation on the interconnected cycle of life, where the uncelebrated roots—hidden beneath the soil—anchor and nourish the annual life of the plant. These roots draw energy from photosynthesis of the leaves, and absorb moisture and nutrients from the earth to fuel the emergence of buds that unfurl into lovely blooms.

In my creative process, I explore the profound symbiosis between the seen and unseen. The fleeting blossoms, are not merely objects of aesthetic allure; they serve a vital purpose, inviting pollination to produce seeds that ensure the continued production of new plants. As petals fade and leaves wither, they return to the earth, enriching the roots that patiently gather strength through winter’s rest. My work captures these transient moments of beauty while remembering the unseen roots that make them possible.

Through my art, I invite viewers to pause and marvel at the diversity of forms—each petal’s curve, each hue’s vibrancy—while remembering the silent, steadfast roots that ground every bloom. My pieces are a celebration of this rooted beauty, a reminder that what we see is inseparable from the roots that lie beneath, showing that each blossom is rooted in beauty.
